"Don't start on tactics..." I've been writing online on various business related subjects since 1997, without any real focus, but always searching for one. Along the way, I brought with me a "sense of who I am." While I cannot describe my personal brand (for others to do), I am very well aware that I have one and have worked to maintain it.

Recently, I finally discovered a focus. Ironically it is about personal branding. I am finding that the work I put in, is helping me to begin utilizing various tactics...validating Blaise's point.

I value this article because it promotes getting out of the ruts. Flexibility to match the coming market needs is the key to personal and professional success.

Compelling stuff: what I really like about this is that it neatly encourages people to make real choices about what they value, then also helps them choose how and how much to make that resonate with what customers find valuable.

That feels like win/win, not just commercially for their customers, but also for the individual's contentment.

thanks. gave me an 'ahha' epiphany to what I've been developing five years since leaving coroporate life for the 'independent' route...totally engaged in life/career mix...
refuse to have a 'business' card.. I call it my 'life' card....now I see it as my 'personal brand'card,business-card size (double sided). It reads Good For YOU...head. health. heart. Joined forces for leading an energized life. My core brand statement: When you decide to bring into your daily life more of what you know,deep down inside is GOOD for you (makes you feel good), it will also be good FOR you (improve your healthy well-being; and, you will be energized by that inner voice shouting goodforYOU. It really works.

I have had the opporutnity of working in the capacity of Healthcare Director, Entrepreneur as well as Consultant and I must agree totally with this article. The impact of my success and the brand name in which I function makes a world of difference in how I am precieved, as well as the quality standards I set for advancement. You must SELL youself to all levels of a project, whether it be in a leadership role or as a follower. I find it most rewarding to make an impression of self to others that is a lef time imprint.
